For Malaysia to reach and exceed its goals to become a high-income economy, strong innovation capabilities will be critical as the country moves towards a more sophisticated goods and tradable services with high knowledge content.

The OECD has recently undertaken a review of the country’s innovation policies and will be delivering their report on November 11, 2016.

AMCHAM invites you to a special meeting with Mr. Philippe Larrue, Science Technology and Innovation Directorate from the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development(OECD) on Monday, November 14, 2016 at 2:00 to 3:30PM for a roundtable discussion to learn about the critical role businesses in Malaysia will play to the success of these goals.

Please join us for a conversation about how the R&D and innovation imperative must be embraced and the policies that the government need to support to enable businesses to be contributors.

    Science Technology and Innovation Director of Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD)

    Dr. Philippe Larrue started his career as a researcher in economics of innovation at the university of Bordeaux, at the INSEAD Business School (Strategy Department) and finally at RIETI (“Think-tank” of the Japanese Ministry of Economy Trade and Industry). His research focused on the assessment of public policies to support the emergence of new industries (fuel cells, electric vehicles, video games, etc.). He was appointed as senior consultant by Technopolis Group, a renowned consultancy in the area of evaluation of research and innovation policies and became Director of the Paris office from 2006 to 2011. He joined OECD in 2011, first as an evaluator at the internal evaluation unit, then as a senior policy analyst at the Directorate for Science Technology and Innovation. He led the Innovation Policy Reviews of Malaysia and Sweden and is now Project Manager of the Kazakhstan and Norway Innovation Policy Reviews.
