You are invited to join us on August 23, 2017, from 6:00 - 8:30 p.m at International SOS for AMCHAM’s Monthly Members' Briefing. Ramzi Toubassy, CEO of AmMetLife will deliver his first Opening remarks as the newly elected President followed by an introduction and a short Site Tour of the facilities by David Ng, General Manager of International SOS our host this month.

Nat Turner, Economic Counsellor from the U.S. Embassy in Kuala Lumpur will provide an overview of the current business and economic issues impacting business in Malaysia, recent visits and activity at the US Embassy.

Members are encouraged to attend this briefing followed by networking evening as this would be an excellent opportunity to meet other fellow members and stay in tune with what’s happening on the ground as you meet with various industries.

This is a Members Only program where admission is complimentary. Due to space limitation, seats are on a first come, first serve basis. At the moment, only 2 representatives per company are allowed.

    President at AMCHAM

    Ramzi Toubassy was elected President on 6th June 2017. Prior to that he served on the Board of Governors on 1st September, 2015. As a Board Member, Ramzi has been working closely with fellow members of the Board in redrafting the constitution of the American Chamber of Commerce and is committed to ensuring that proper governance remains pertinent to the Board. Since his appointment in September 2015, Ramzi is active in promoting and increasing the membership count for the American Chamber of Commerce. As an insurance industry expert, Ramzi is a prominent personality in Malaysia and other parts of Asia.

    On 19 September 2014, Ramzi was appointed as Chief Executive Officer for AmMetLife Insurance Berhad. As Chief Executive Officer, Ramzi is responsible for executing a transformation strategy to achieve profitable growth, accelerate shareholder return, as well as ensuring the operational effectiveness of the AmMetLife business in Malaysia.

    Ramzi joined MetLife Inc in 2012, and previously served as its Head of Face-to-Face Distribution for the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region. Prior to joining MetLife, he was with AIA, where over a period of eight years, he held several key management roles including Deputy Chief Agency Officer for Southeast Asia based in Hong Kong, Chief Distribution Officer in Malaysia, Korea and Vietnam. Having started his career at AIG in 1996, Ramzi has accumulated over 21 years of experience in the insurance industry.

    Ramzi holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science as well as a Master of Arts in International Relations from Georgia State University, USA.

    General Manager at International SOS

    David oversees all of Intl.SOS’s business encompassing over 400 employees. Intl.SOS is the world’s leading medical and security assistance company operating in 90 countries. The company has a significant presence in Europe, including offices in Frankfurt, Paris and London.

    Prior to Intl.SOS, David was the Managing Director for DHL Malaysia for four years where he successfully led an organisation of 800 people. His success earned him the Malaysia Business Award for Outstanding Leadership in Logistics. David Ng was also the Managing Director for DHL Indonesia for six years during which DHL was awarded the Most Admired Company Award for four consecutive years.

    In 2015, David was appointed as the Vice Chairman of British Malaysian Chamber of Commerce (“BMCC”). David has served as one of the Board Members since 2010. David holds a BSC in Civil Engineering (Surrey University) and an MBA (Warwick University). He is also a Fellow of ICAEW.
