“Charting a Bold Future: US Businesses in the Asian Century” is the theme for the 2018 APCAC Business Summit to be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on Wednesday and Thursday, April 4-5, 2018.

This high-profile annual summit attracts over 300 participants including senior government and private sector leaders from the USA and the Asia-Pacific region to explore business issues that are driving and challenging companies and countries in the region. This Summit looks to have less hype but a more meaningful interaction between stakeholders.

Why Malaysia, and why now?
With the current U.S. administration's focus and messaging about prioritizing American interests, a retrenchment from overseas engagement is predicted. For those of us based in Asia, we have seen these shifts result in increased questions about the commitment by U.S. business to these markets. Will U.S. companies continue to invest in:

● Local talent?
● Localizing their products and services?
● Engaging in ways to develop and grow local economies?
● Social responsibility initiatives?

At APCAC, we know the answer is a resounding 'YES.'

What is APCAC?

APCAC is an association of 29 American Chambers of Commerce from 22 economies in Asia-Pacific. APCAC comprises of 15,000 Member companies, 50,000 overseas American executives and 10 million employees; the region has USD 620 billion in annual FDI management and more than USD 1 trillion in annual trade. The APCAC Business Summit is hosted each spring by one of APCAC’s member associations and we are delighted to have been chosen to bring the Summit to Kuala Lumpur in 2018. Cameron Highlands for 3 days and 2 nights (stay at Strawberry Park Resort)

Day 1 Kuala Lumpur/ Cameron Highlands
Pick up from the hotel and depart to Cameron Highlands. While en route, visit the Batu Caves Temple.

The Highlands were named after William Cameron, a British colonial government surveyor who discovered the plateau during a mapping expedition in 1885. The fame of Cameron Highlands then grew during the colonial era when British planters realized the potential of its fertile mountain slopes for growing tea, then a prized commodity.

The Cameron Highlands is still home to many tea plantations, being Malaysia's largest tea-producing region. The area is also known as a major supplier of legumes and vegetables to both Malaysia and Singapore with its many farms and is one of Malaysia's prime tourist destinations.

Day 1 Kuala Lumpur/ Penang
Pick up from hotel and depart to Penang. While en-route, stop at Kuala Kangsar to visit its unique Ubudiah Mosque – a magnificent building with a golden dome and its intricate wood carving. Continuing to Butterworth, cross the Penang Bridge (spanning 13.5km, the longest bridge in Asia and the 3rd longest in the world) to Penang Island. Arrive Penang, free at leisure

Day 2 Penang (Breakfast / Lunch)
Day tour in Penang, begin the day by driving to the seaside district of Telok Bahang to visit the Entopia
(Butterfly Farm), a sanctuary for over 120 species of exotic tropical butterflies. Next stop at a Batik Factory to observe the traditional technique of batik painting using wax and dyes.

In Georgetown, a world heritage site of UNESCO, photo stop at Fort Cornwallis facing the Esplanade. By trishaw – Penang’s ‘king of the road’, take a leisurely ride to the Khoo Clan Ancestral House and admire the intricate carvings and woodwork of this heritage building. In the afternoon, ascend Penang Hill, 830 meters above sea level for a panoramic view of the city. (Note: Drinks are not inclusive)

Day 3 Penang (Breakfast)
Free till pre-fixed time and transfer to Penang Airport

Ipoh and Pangkor Laut for 4 days and 3 nights (1 night stay at small boutique hotel and 2 nights stay at Pangkor Laut Resort)

Day 1 Kuala Lumpur/ Ipoh
Pick up from the hotel and departs to Ipoh. While en route visit Batu Caves Temple.

Visit Tempurung Cave take a stroll through the cave and encounter many interesting and beautiful rock formations. Next stop will be Kinta Kellas Rubber Estate area.

Amidst the lush greenery stands proud the ruins of the never completed dream castle of William Kellie Smith, a wealthy Scottish planter during the colonial era. An aura of mystery envelopes this romantic yet melancholic mansion. Believed to be haunted, it is said to have secret rooms and underground tunnels.

Drive along Ipoh famous landmarks The Railway Station or the ‘Taj Mahal’ of Ipoh is an impressive landmark which combines Moorish architecture with modern embellishments. The Station bears a close resemblance to its Kuala Lumpur counterpart haring the same architectural design and the distinction of being the most filmed buildings in their respective cities.

Day 2 Ipoh / Lumut (Breakfast)
Depart to Lumut is about 2 hours drive. Arrive at Lumut Jetty, board schedule boat to a home on the private island of Pangkor Laut. Afternoon, free at leisure

Day 3 Pangkor Laut Resort (Breakfast)
Day at leisure – optional for resort activities

Day 4 Pangkor Laut Resort (Breakfast)

Depart from Kuala Lumpur City Centre for Malacca. Upon arrival, proceed for Historical Malacca Tour.
Founded in 1403, Malacca is Malaysia’s oldest town, full of fascinating history and multi-cultural heritage.
The beauty of the town has now been recognized and it was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2008.

Malacca is also one of the birthplaces of the 'Peranakan', a mix of Chinese and Malay descendants uniquely its own. Lunch at local restaurant (Nyonya cuisine). After the tour, drop off at hotel for check-in.

Day 02

Kota Kinabalu for 3 days and 2 nights (stay at Shangri-La's Rasa Ria Resort)

Day 01
Upon arrival, you will be met and transferred to the hotel. Check-in and free at leisure.

Day 02
Morning, pick-up transfer to the jetty. Board the boat for a 20-minute boat ride to Sapi or Manukan Island. There is a trail system around the island, ideal for swimming, snorkeling, and diving. The island has very clear water and is an excellent venue for sea-sports. The day is yours to enjoy at leisure.

Day 03
After breakfast, free at leisure until your transfer to the airport.
