These are two questions that AMCHAM will discuss with you on October 18, 2016 from 2:00 - 5:00 p.m. in a special double program, which includes a U.S. Visa Briefing & Performance Management Systems (PMS).

Please join us at HP Malaysia Manufacturing in Batu Kawan, Penang where you will hear from experts on both topics.

From 2:00 - 3:30p.m, Matt Keene, Consular General at U.S. Embassy in Malaysia will kick off the program and provide a regulatory update and an the overview of the visa application process with a particular emphasis on visas for business/training along with the visa interview process into the United States. Updates on general visa application procedures will also be highlighted.

Immediately following, (3.30 – 5:00pm), the afternoon will continue with a panel discussion on the future of Performance Management Systems (PMS) and what companies in Malaysia are doing today as they adjust how they deliver and measure productivity.

    Consular General at U.S. Embassy in Malaysia

    Matt Keene assumed the position of Consul General at U.S. Embassy Kuala Lumpur in July 2016. Matt joined the Foreign Service in 1999. His prior overseas tours include Jerusalem, Dubai, Sofia, and Cairo. He has also served in Washington as Deputy Director of the Office of Maghreb Affairs in the Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs (NEA/MAG), as Senior Advisor in HR/CDA, and as Senior Assignments Officer for HR/CDA/AD overseeing staffing in the Middle East/North Africa and South Central Asia. He speaks Hebrew, Bulgarian, and Arabic. Originally from Philadelphia, PA, Matt graduated summa cum laude from Temple University in 1995 with a double-major in History & Political Science. He subsequently obtained an M.A. in Education from LaSalle University in 1999. Matt has been married to his wife, Susan, a Palestinian Christian from Jerusalem, since 2002, and they have three children

    Masliza holds Bachelor Degree in Marketing with Honor from Michigan State University, USA and Associate Degree from Indiana University, USA. She has gained her Professional HR Management Professional certification (HRMP) by HR Certification Institute (HRCI), USA and Senior Certified HR Professional (SHRM_SCP) certification by Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM) and the Australian Human Resources Institute (CAHRI). She is also a Certified Trainer for Situational Leadership II Program by Ken Blanchard Companies.

    She had recently been awarded with “HR Leader (Silver Award) for 2015” in the 15th Malaysia HR Award 2015 organized by MIHRM/ Jobstreet. She is instrumental in successfully getting “2016 Best Employer Award for Gen-Y “ organized by AON Hewitt, “Employer of Choice (Silver Award) organized by MIHRM/ Jobstreet, “The Global Leadership Awards 2015: Excellence In Renewable Energy Manufacturing Sector” by American Leadership Development Association and “Certificate of Merit: Improving Quality of Working Life”  by IFTDO for First Solar Malaysia.

    Rahul Chawla is the Practice Leader in Aon Hewitt’s Rewards Practice, Malaysia. Before moving to Malaysia in 2016, he was based in the Aon Hewitt Shanghai office as a consulting director in the Performance, Rewards & Talent Practice..
    Rahul has about a decade of core HR experience spanning both line and strategic HR and has worked across industries in India, China and South East Asia. He brings in a strategic point of view in the areas of total rewards, talent management and engagement. His strength lies in linking various outcome areas in HR for maximum business impact.
    With Aon Hewitt in the APAC region he has led large local and regional projects on Total Rewards, Engagement and Culture in Financial Services, Chemical, Consumer Goods, Automobiles, Telecom and Engineering. He has also published white papers on the Engagement and Rewards landscapes in Malaysia, China and APAC and is a frequent speaker at industry forums

    Before joining Aon Hewitt, Rahul was working as a Senior Manager, HR for Airtel in India. Airtel is India’s largest telecom company with operations in 20 other countries besides India and is the world’s third largest telecom company by subscriber size. In tenure, Rahul gained cross-functional HR experience through varied roles in HR Strategy & Projects and Business Partnering. Rahul completed his MBA from IMT(Ghaziabad), India in 2007. He also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering.

    HR Consultant at Motorola Solutions

    Marcin Zabrzanski is working as an HR Consultant for Motorola Solutions, currently on a year-long assignment to Malaysia. He is serving as an acting HR Lead and Business Partner in Penang, having the responsibility for the multiple layers of HR operations on the ground, as well as successful deployment of a number of cross-site initiatives planned for the next 3 quarters.

    During the last 5 years at Motorola Solutions Poland, he worked as a Business Partner for a number of organisations, most recently leading the HR BP activities for Supply Chain in EMEA region.
    Before joining Motorola, Marcin gained professional experience in a mix of corporations, medium-size and charity organisations in the UK and Poland. He is a graduate of the Faculty of Education at the University of Edinburgh, where he obtained a Master of Science degree in Learning Management and Development. Previously he earned a Bachelor's degree at the Pedagogical University in Krakow. He also received a scholarship from and did an internship at Middle East Technical University in Ankara, Turkey. Still active in the academic field, Marcin recently became a lecturer at Krakow University of Science and Technology, and will be flying back to Poland to conduct courses on Performance Management, Talent Management and Building Career Paths, and HR Business Partnering at the newly opened postgraduate course Talent Management in Technical Companies.
