This is the final event notice for our upcoming AMCHAM's Members' Briefing, nowwith a special update on the Novel Coronavirus outbreak.



The briefing will be heldon Wednesday, Feb 5, 2020, from 5.00 p.m. to 7.00 p.m. (registration will begin at 4.30 p.m.) at the AMCHAM Executive Office.


If you have not signed up yet, please do so soon, as registration for this event will close tomorrow, Tuesday February 4 at 12:00pm. This is a Members Only program where admission is complimentary for members. Due to space limitation, seats are on a first come, first serve basis. Please note that this program is off-the-record.


Siobhan Das, Executive Director of AMCHAM will deliver the welcome remarks and provide an update on Chamber activities.


The Deputy Chief of Mission, Dean Thompson of the U.S. Embassy of Kuala Lumpur will provide an overview of the current business and economic issues impacting business in Malaysia, recent visits and activities at the US Embassy.


Dr Chan Yanjun, Medical Director of International SOS Malaysia provide an update about the Novel Coronavirus outbreak.


Members are encouraged to attend this briefing followed by a networking session. This would be an excellent opportunity to meet other fellow members and stay in tune with what's happening on the ground as you meet with various industries.

    Dean Thompson

    Deputy Chief of Mission at U.S. Embassy in Malaysia

    Dean Thompson is a member of the Senior Foreign Service and has more than 20 years of experience in U.S. diplomacy. Most recently, Mr. Thompson served as the Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy in Bucharest, Romania. He has also served as U.S. Consul General in Kolkata, India and the Chief of the Economic and Commercial Affairs section of the U.S. Embassy in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Mr. Thompson’s other overseas service includes tours at the U.S. Embassies in Paraguay and Bangladesh. While stationed in Washington, Mr. Thompson has led several teams in direct support of the U.S. Secretary of State and served as Director of the Executive Secretariat Staff, the Deputy Director of the Department’s 24 hour Operations Center and the Director of the Department’s Crisis Management Staff.
