Event Details

Section 17A of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Act 2009 (Amendment 2018), which provides for corporate and personal liability for corruption committed by employees or associates, came into effect on 1 June 2020.

Although the Act provides for punishment in the event of a conviction, the intent is to encourage businesses to conduct their activities with integrity, while promoting good governance within their organization.

Come and join us on 21 October 2020 at 3:00 pm us for an in-depth discussion with the MACC on the nature and scope of the legal provision, and the need for commercial organizations to ensure adequate corruption prevention procedures are in place.

The session will be presented by Jayantha Kumar Sen Gupta, Head of Community Relations Branch of the Community Education Division of the MACC, who will delve into the building blocks to having adequate procedures based on five principles:

T = Top Level Commitment

R = Risk Assessment

U = Undertake Control Measures

S = Systematic Review, Monitoring and Enforcement

T = Training and Communication

The session will be bolstered with case studies for a comprehensive review of the provision and will be followed by a Q&A session.
