Mei Quin Chen
Senior Employment Counsel at Intel Technology Sdn. Bhd.
Mei Quin was a practising lawyer in one of the largest law firms in Malaysia before joining Intel as the Senior Employment Counsel. During her years as a practising lawyer, she has acted for and advised employers/clients on a wide range of employment and industrial relations issues, both contentious and non-contentious, including general drafting of employment-related documents; managing complex exits of employees; conducting investigations into potential misconduct and advising on disciplinary actions and/or due inquiry process; representing companies in employment disputes at trial and appellate stages. She has also assisted on investigations into suspected fraud, corruption and other misconduct wherein she is required to analyse data, conduct interview, cooperate with internal, external and forensic investigation teams and advise on remedial measures post-investigations. In addition, she was also seconded to ByteDance for 3 months in 2021 in which she had the opportunity to learn and serve as an employment legal counsel from the in-house angle.

Raymond advocates and advises in all matters relating to employment and industrial relations law including judicial reviews, trade disputes, trade unions, industrial disputes (strikes and picketing), employment contracts, collective agreements, dismissals of employees, employee misconduct, poor performance and health issues of employees, employees’ provident fund, private pension laws and occupational health and safety laws.
Raymond appears regularly at the Court of Appeal, High Court, Industrial Court and Labour Court in Malaysia in relation to these matters.
Raymond has broad experience in data security law, data protection and privacy policies, personal data protection in the banking sector, personal data protection in employment, customer personal data protection in the retail sector, and personal data protection audit services.
Hon Cheong was called to the Bar in 1995 and currently heads the Human Capital Services practice in Zaid Ibrahim & Co. From the advisory and transactional perspective, he has advised on employment issues in some of the largest merger and acquisition projects in the country. He also works closely on a regular basis with international law firms and multinational organisations, dealing with employment issues for Malaysia in global or regional corporate exercises.
His clients include multinationals in sectors such as automotive, hospitality, services, manufacturing, consulting and financial services. Hon Cheong also represents a wide variety of corporate clients in industrial relations and employment disputes at the Industrial Court and appellate courts. More recently, he has been engaged in providing advice on social issues arising from ESG compliance such as modern slavery and anti-harassment. From the litigation perspective, Hon Cheong is a well-regarded and regular personality at the Industrial Court conducting cases for a wide range of corporate clients. He also has extensive experience in handling judicial review proceedings and appeals at the Court of Appeal and the Federal Court. His litigation experience cuts across a wide range of employment matters that include unjust dismissal claims, trade disputes and collective bargaining.
