MITI in collaboration with Dagang Net Technologies Sdn. Bhd. (DNT) has developed ePCO system (both Cost Analysis and CO modules) to meet requirements under the CPTPP. The ePCO is a web-based CO application and approval system that certifies the country of origin of a particular product. The ePCO is intended solely to prove the origin of goods in order to satisfy Customs or trade requirements under the CPTPP.

On 14 October, AMCHAM’s Human Capital Committee hosted a special briefing on the proposed Amendments to the Trade Union Act. Following the recent second reading of the Trade Unions (Amendment) Bill 2022, the briefing was a good opportunity for attendees to learn more about the amendments.

The Ministry of Trade and Industry (MITI) released its Malaysia External Trade Statistics for the period of January-September 2022 on Wednesday which cited the growth was the highest monthly value for the month of September.

The export growth was contributed mainly by robust external demand for electrical and electronic (E&E) products, petroleum products, liquefied natural gas (LNG), crude petroleum, optical and scientific equipment as well as machinery, equipment and parts.

On 15 October, Pusat Jagaan Suria (Suria School) officially opened its computer lab, sponsored by Jabil Penang. This new lab would allow for students who are differently-abled to gain access to STEM education.

Led by High School Music teacher Jaymin Baird and Grade 11 students Rosie P. and Jade N., the event saw more than 60 students across artistic disciplines sharing their creativity, passion, and talents for a good cause. All the proceeds from ticket sales went towards Hungry for Music, a nonprofit organization that collects used musical instruments and donates them to underserved youth.
