It has come to our attention that our members have been concerned about the U.S. Embassy Travel Advisory. Please be advised that the Advisory has been in place since August 2020 and, to date, no change has been made.
However, more recently, the Centers for Diseases Control and Prevention (CDC) has updated their COVID-19 Travel Health Notices, which may have caused some confusion.
The cost of vaccinating foreign workers in Malaysia from COVID-19 will be borne by their employers, the Human Resources Ministry said today. The announcement comes a day after another minister said the government needed time to decide if they would be vaccinated for free.
The World Bank on Tuesday downgraded its outlook for the global economy, and warned the situation could deteriorate if COVID-19 infections accelerate or the vaccine rollout is delayed. The coronavirus pandemic also has worsened the risks surrounding the rising debt load in developing nations, and it will take a global effort to avoid a new crisis in those economies, the bank cautioned.

Sunway has reached out to more than 200,000 lives in Malaysia when the outbreak affected the majority in the country last year. Sunway centred the efforts on three key pillars: education, healthcare, and community enrichment. The #SunwayforGood campaign actively assisted the bottom 40 percent (B40) income-group and provided vouchers worth RM50 to more than 2,000 beneficiaries. Vouchers worth RM100 were also given to 736 students and to purchase groceries and school items.
COVID-19 is often linked to its impact on mobility and globalization. Stringent measures have been taken to contain the situation, which have constrained the movement of people and goods, nationally and internationally. The coronavirus pandemic has also accelerated previously existing geopolitical trends, especially regarding trade protectionism associated with, for example, medical equipment
, pharmaceutical products and COVID-19 vaccine-related research.
