Several districts in the State of Selangor and localities in the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur will be under an Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) starting 3 to 16 July 2021. During this period, AMCHAM will be bringing you daily updates on the latest COVID-19 developments, which includes Government-issued orders, regulations, and SOPs as well as initiatives from related bodies and organizations.

The enhanced movement control order imposed on 34 mukim in eight districts in Selangor will end on Friday (July 16). A special meeting of the National Security Council on Friday had studied the current situation and decided that there was no need to extend the enhanced MCO in Selangor. Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob yesterday issued a stern warning to factories and business premises that continue to violate standard operating procedures (SOPs) of the National Recovery Plan (PPN). Malaysia’s Health Ministry said today it has granted conditional approval for emergency use to the COVID-19 vaccine manufactured by China’s Sinopharm. The Sinopharm vaccine in Malaysia was registered by pharmaceutical company Duopharma Sdn Bhd. Duopharma had previously announced a deal to supply the Malaysian government with 6.4 million doses of the Russian-made Sputnik V vaccine.
