The American Malaysian Chamber of Commerce(AMCHAM) proudly convened its signature conference, the Penang Dialogue 2024, on Thursday, 5 December.

The Minister of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living, Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali, has recently stated in the Dewan Rakyat (House of Representatives) that the long-awaited amendments to introduce a merger control regime into the Competition Act 2010 are likely to be tabled at the next meeting of the Malaysian Parliament, subject to the approval of the Malaysian Cabinet.

However, the Minster did not indicate the timeframe for the framework to come into force after the amendments have become law.

The Ministry of Energy Transition and Water Transformation (PETRA), through the Energy Commission ("EC"), has launched an open bidding program for the acquisition of Battery Energy Storage System ("BESS") capacity through the Request for Qualification ("RFQ") process.

The RFQ process is an initial screening stage aimed at obtaining qualification information from interested companies or consortiums. Only parties that meet the qualification criteria will be shortlisted to participate in the next stage, which is the Request for Proposal.
