Establishment of Mass Covid-19 Vaccination Centres for Factory Workers

On 3rd June 2021, the Penang Chief Minister, YAB Mr. Chow Kon Yeow announced that mass Covid-19 vaccination centres which are specifically dedicated for factory workers will be set up in island and mainland. This matter too has been discussed by National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme Coordinating Minister, Khairy Jamaluddin with Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali, Minister of International Trade and Industries.

This mass vaccination programme for industrial workers forms part of the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme, which is spearheaded by the Federal government and overseen by the Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF) chaired by the Minister of Science, Technology & Innovation (MOSTI). In line with this, the Penang State government will be coordinating in areas within its jurisdiction.

In this regard, the Penang Manufacturing Industry Advisory Council wishes to inform manufacturing
companies that:

  • For the manufacturing industry, the coordinating ministry is the Ministry of International Trade and Industries (MITI).
  • The USM facilities / PPVs (Vaccination Centres or Pusat Pemberian Vaksin) are dedicated for community usage only. They will not be used for industrial workers’ vaccination, unless the USM facilities are approved by MITI.
  • For industrial workers, two pilot PPVs have been proposed to be set up in Penang:
o Mainland: PPV at Bukit Jawi Golf Club, tentative operation date is 16 June 2021.
o Island: PPV at Hotel EQ, tentative operation date is 28 June 2021.
  • Companies that wish to do group vaccination registrations for their employees are required to submit the list to their respective industry associations as soon as possible.
  • Click the link below to download the registration form:

  • The associations will then compile and tabulate the information and submit the lists to MITI for their further actions.

Together, we can fight the pandemic!
