Aiming High – Navigating the next stage of Malaysia’s Development: Online Knowledge Series #2- Competitiveness and Jobs

April 20, 2021 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

What are Malaysia’s development ambitions beyond COVID-19? As with most countries around the world, it has been severely affected by the pandemic experiencing three simultaneous shocks: the direct health impact of the virus; the economic impact of movement restrictions; and the growth impact of a global recession. Yet even with a significant contraction in 2020, Malaysia’s economy is expected to rebound, recover and propel the country into high-income nation status over the next few years.

This online knowledge event will focus on boosting competitiveness and creating jobs in Malaysia as it transitions into a high-income nation. What are the steps necessary to ensure that productivity growth and innovation will drive private sector-led growth? What are the implications of increased automation and digitization in Malaysia? What are the skills required for Malaysians to successfully adapt to a changing nature of work?

Tune in as we present our specific findings and recommendations from the newly launched World Bank report, Aiming High: Navigating the Next Stage of Malaysia’s Development, and discuss them further with our panel of esteemed experts.
