Google Malaysia Extends WFH Policy to 2022

Google Malaysia is continuing to monitor the situation before it decides to safely bring people back to the office, says Marc Woo, Managing Director of Google Malaysia in an interview with Business Today.

“Here at Google Malaysia, the health and safety of Googlers continue to be our priority, and our offices across the world are reopening on different timelines depending on local conditions and allowed guidelines,” he says.

While the entire Google Malaysia office has been working from home since early 2020, they recently extended their voluntary WFH policy to January 10, 2022, to give Googlers flexibility and choice. These policies go a long way in showing how the multinational in Malaysia is taking steps in supporting their employees during this challenging time.

“Given that recovery looks very different in different countries, taking a localised approach is what makes the most sense for us here in Malaysia,” he adds.

Marc adds that there isn’t a one-size-fits-all solution. During the pandemic, everyone is finding different ways to adapt to their work environment. At Google Malaysia, he says that what is important right now is to provide the right environment, tools and resources so Googlers can continue to stay productive and efficient whether they continue working from home or return to the office in certain cases.
