14 companies join Dell Tech Malaysia’s MentorConnect programme to groom 170 mentees into future leaders

The programme, which launched on 2 August and will last till November 2021, will see the likes of Motorola Solutions, Citigroup, and Zebra Technologies participating, as well as promoting diverse leadership development.

A total of 14 companies across Malaysia are participating in Dell Technologies Malaysia’s fifth instalment of the MentorConnect programme – a multi-company collaboration which aims to engage, advance, and retain diverse talents by sharpening their leadership skills, broadening their network, and diversifying their perspectives, expertise, and knowledge.

The tech company, which is also a participant of the programme, is joined by the likes of Motorola Solutions, Intel, IHS-Markit, Zebra Technologies, UST-Global, Boston Scientific, NI, Osram, Globetronics, Citigroup, AIG, American Malaysian Chamber of Commerce (AMCHAM), and Microsoft.

With various companies entering the programme, MentorConnect looks set to have 16 mentors, and benefit about 170 mentees. Having launched on 2 August 2021 (Monday), it will last until November 2021.

Beyond developing talents, at its core, MentorConnect is also about promoting diverse leadership development, the firm noted.

The programme launch was attended by company leaders who are strong advocates of D&I. This includes:

  • Vanice Hayes, Chief Diversity & Inclusion Officer;
  • Pang Yee Beng, Senior Vice President, South Asia, and Managing Director, Malaysia, and
  • Teoh Ean Na, Director and General Manager, Medium Business, Malaysia and Singapore, Dell Technologies and Women in Action Malaysia Chapter Lead.

“At Dell Technologies, we view diversity and inclusion as a business imperative that will enable us to build and empower our future workforce while also doing our part to address societal challenges,” said Pang at MentorConnect.

“I am proud of how far MentorConnect has come and what it has achieved over the past five years, more so now as we navigate new ways of working in a hybrid workplace that is increasingly inclusive and equitable. For long-term success, cultivating inclusion is just as important as Dell’s innovative technology, and it is an action that we take purposefully to enable every single team member to thrive.”

Teoh, echoing Pang’s sentiment, added: “Dell Technologies believes in closing the diversity gap – a critical lever to meeting future talent needs and building a workforce with social values that are as relevant as the technology solutions we create.

“Our strategy is about driving culture, equity and inclusion for all. With our Progress Made Real 2030 plan, our diversity and inclusion goals are geared towards creating an environment where all can succeed.

“The MentorConnect programme is a great, innovative way to help organisations build and attract future talent, develop and retain an empowered workforce, and scale for maximum impact.”
