Malaysians Turn To Snacking As An Important Source Of Comfort And Nourishment

Mondelēz International has discovered that Malaysians turned to snacking as an important source of comfort and nourishment last year.

Despite the new norm and current challenges, Mondelēz International Managing Director for Malaysia and Singapore, James Kane, said more than half of adults around the world (52 percent ) revealed that snacking has been a ‘lifeline’ during the outbreak.

With nearly two-thirds of the survey respondents said that snacking has given them ‘much needed moments’ to themselves (65 percent) and 54 percent of global adults relied on snacks for nourishment.

Kane stated that they are seeing a positive behavioural change as more people are conscious of the food they consume, opting for healthier snacks and treats that provide an extra boost of energy.

“To cater to the needs of today’s discerning consumers, it is important for Mondelēz International to innovate and revitalise our products.because consumers are at the heart of our business, our annual State of Snacking Report is critical in understanding their changing preferences,” Kane said.

Kane added in his statement said that with a growing interest in healthy, organic, and sustainably sourced products and ingredients, Mondelz International is evaluating its diverse portfolio of brands on a regular basis.

“Developing the right recipes and creating localised variants to support its larger vision of providing the right snacks, at the right time, in the right way,” he said.
