    U.S. Ambassador to Malaysia at U.S. Embassy Kuala Lumpur

    Brian D. McFeeters has served as U.S. Ambassador to Malaysia since February 26, 2021. A career member of the Senior Foreign Service, Brian previously served as Deputy Chief of Mission of the U.S. Embassy, Baghdad, Iraq, Senior Advisor in the Office of the Counselor to the Secretary of State, and Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary in the State Department’s Bureau of Economic and Business Affairs in Washington. Brian has spent half of his 30-year Foreign Service career working on Southeast Asia, including as Deputy Chief of Mission of U.S. Mission Indonesia, as Political Counselor at U.S. Embassy Kuala Lumpur, and as Deputy Director of the State Department’s Office of Maritime Southeast Asia.

    Mr. McFeeters’ other assignments include service as the Economic Minister Counselor of the U.S. Mission to the European Union in Brussels, Belgium and Economic Minister Counselor for U.S. Embassy Baghdad, and Deputy Political Counselor at the U.S. Embassy in Seoul, Republic of Korea. Brian previously served in the U.S. Air Force, attaining the rank of Captain.

    Mr. McFeeters was awarded B.A. and B.S. degrees from the University of Notre Dame, an M.S. from the University of New Mexico, and an M.A. from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies. His foreign languages are Malaysian, Indonesian, French, Spanish, and German.

    A recognized industry leader, Mahadhir has a proven track record of over 20 years in various industries including Financial Services, Energy (Oil and Gas), Information Technology and Media, serving established global and local organizations such as Deloitte Consulting, Kodak, PETRONAS and AmInvestment Bank.

    He was previously the co-founder and CEO of Futurise since its establishment in 2017, an agency under the Ministry of Finance mandated to drive the National Regulatory Sandbox (NRS) and a wholly owned subsidiary of Cyberview. In March 2020, Mahadhir was also handpicked to be part of the founding team at the National Economic Implementation and Strategic Coordination Agency (LAKSANA) under the Ministry of Finance.

    Appointed the General Manager at Cyberview in 2015, he was instrumental in formulating the development of the Cyberjaya Global Technology Hub Blueprint and its implementation. Amongst the notable digital and tech transformation projects in which he successfully launched was the establishment of the City Innovation Council to manage Smart City implementation including the Cashless Cyberjaya program.

    Mahadhir has also served on various committees such as the United Nations Technology Innovation Labs Advisory Panel and the Malaysian Industry4WRD Regulatory Panel at the Ministry of International Trade & Industry (MITI). On the global stage, Mahadhir has represented Malaysia at the Krasnoyarsk Economic Forum (2015 – a World Economic Forum branch of Russian Federation), Smart City Expo World Congress (2016-2018) in Barcelona (where he was acknowledged as among the global thought leaders in smart city initiatives), Global Transformation Forum (2017) and United Nations World Urban Forum (2018) which subsequently led to him being invited as a panel member of the United Nations Technology Innovation Labs.

    Mahadhir is passionate about developing communities and society in general. He has contributed pro-bono work for the Project Management Institute (PMI) where he was the Content Reviewer and Contributor for the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK), which is the guide used for all PMI-certified project managers (Project Management Professional – PMP) globally.

    He is an active participant in the Malaysian education system at both the university and secondary school programs ranging from volunteer work to arts and STEM. Mahadhir holds a B.Sc. Computer Science from Lakehead University with a Minor in Business and is registered with the Malaysia Board of Technologists (MBOT)

    Steven has more than 20 years of combined government and industry experience in international trade and public policy. Prior to joining PayPal, he was the managing director and regional head of regulatory, industry and government affairs for State Street based in Hong Kong. Steven also served as Director of Government Relations and Corporate Social Responsibility for the American Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai. He previously held various positions in the US government as a Foreign Service Officer with the Department of State with overseas and domestic assignments in Mexico, China, and Washington D.C., and as Deputy Director for China and Mongolia Affairs with the Department of Commerce. He also worked at Booz Allen Hamilton and Deloitte Consulting supporting change management and enterprise transformation projects for large organizations.

    Steven currently serves as the Chair of the Emerging Payments Association Asia and board member of the American Association of Indo Pacific, the National Center for APEC, and an industry leader of the APEC Asia Pacific Financial Forum. Steven earned a Master of Arts in international economics and China studies from the School of Advanced International Studies at The Johns Hopkins University and a Bachelor of Arts in international affairs and economics from Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon.

    Nantha also focuses in establishing and leading the execution of the strategic influencing activities through alignment with Global Government Affairs Team leadership as well as internal and key external stakeholders such as customs and export control authorities, Government. Agencies across Asia Pacific and industry associations. Over the years, he has implemented a numbers of Trade Compliance programs. He is actively engaged in Government Advocacy programs to bridge Industry and Regulators. Lately he is also actively engaged in promoting and creating awareness to ASEAN governments to embrace digitalization (Block Chain, Machine Learning & AI) focusing on Supply Chain & Customs process. Externally he serves as the Vice Chairman for Customs & Trade Facilitation Committee with US-ASEAN Business Council APEC Supply Chain Committee Member.

She is also a council member of a global social impact NGO supported by Social Value International.

    Sebastian Cortes-Sanchez is Deputy Director at the Asian Trade Centre. He leads and manages teams of analysts, policy experts and practitioners in the delivery of trade research, advisory and capacity building projects for governments, NGOs, and international organizations.

    As part of his work at the ATC, Sebastian works closely with officials from Asia - Pacific governments and regional and multilateral institutional bodies in the assessment, negotiation, and implementation of trade policies. He specializes in advising government officials on industry engagement and development policies and implementing trade related capacity building and advocacy programming across the Asia-Pacific.

    Sebastian also has extensive experience carrying out strategic advisory and supply chain management projects. These include the management and delivery of supply chain advisory projects that provide MNCs and MSMEs with strategic tools to take advantage of direct cost savings from the use of existing and upcoming FTAs.

    His areas of expertise include Digital Trade, Supply Chain Optimization and Resilience, Non-Tariff Measures, Regional Value Chains, Free Trade Agreements and US-China trade disputes.

    Prior to his current role, YC was the Strategy and Marketing Director of Honeywell Southeast Asia. He was responsible for the corporate strategy, enterprise and vertical key accounts business development, and internal transformation projects.

    Before Honeywell, YC was a management consultant with Booz & Company, covering technology & telco industries in Southeast Asia. He also has a brief stint with PADU – setting up the Program Management Office to implement the Malaysian Education Transformation Blueprint for the Education Ministry.

    Early in his career, YC was a Research Engineer specializing in semiconductor design and network protocols programming. YC graduate with BSc. and MSc. In Electrical Engineering from Purdue University and an MBA from INSEAD. He has authored a US patent for an optical device feedback self-test methodology.

    Dr. Juita Mohamad is the Director of the Economics and Business Unit and the Acting Director of Research at IDEAS. She was an Indo Pacific Fellow at Perth USAsia Center in Australia in 2021. Dr. Mohamad is one of the Resource Persons of Malaysia’s All Party Parliament Group on the Sustainable Development Goals. She has also served as a Fellow in the Economics, Trade and Regional Integration (ETRI) Division of Malaysia’s Institute for Strategic and International Studies (ISIS) and as an Economist at the Asia Desk, OECD Development Center in Paris.

    Juita earned a PhD in International Studies (Economics Discipline) from Waseda University. Her thesis focused on the impact of trade liberalisation on wage inequality between skilled and unskilled workers in Malaysia. She obtained her Master's Degree in Economics from Shiga University, Japan and her Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from UKM. Her current research interests include trade, regional integration, protectionism, wage inequality, the informal sector, and digital trade.

She leads a diverse, highly motivated and collaborative team in advising and supporting clients in supply chain assessment and operating model effectiveness projects within the Asia Pacific region. Her role is to understand their industry and business challenges to identify and capture opportunities and assist in resolving potential roadblocks.

    She serves an extensive range of industries, such as consumer products, technology, advanced manufacturing materials, including electronics and electrical, and many more.

    She has independently worked on extremely large and complex engagements in designing operating models and delivering favorable results on various rulings, government incentives, and other innovation/growth incentives. With a strong background in taxation consultancy, Linda advises many clients in identifying tax risk and making recommendations to manage the risk, assisted in tax audits and successfully obtain approvals on appeals and tax audits.

    Linda is recognized as the key resource in sharing insights with government agencies and advising in policy matters, which reflects her diverse capability and strengths. These include internal relationships within EY and outside EY, and the ability to bring in new products and services.

    Dr. Peng Wen Wong (Senior Member, IEEE) received the B.Eng. degree (Hons.) in electrical and electronic engineering from the University of Leeds, in 2005, and the Ph.D. degree from the University of Leeds, U.K., in 2009. During the Ph.D. degree, he was involved in a U.K. DTI-funded project, developing process design kits for multilayer system-in-package modules. He was also fully funded by the U.K. Ministry of Defense through the DTC Program, involving in the development of advanced high power tuneable microwave filter for defense radar application. He worked as an Associate Professor with the Petronas University of Technology, Perak, Malaysia from 2010-2019. From 2019-2021, he was with Huawei Sweden and worked as Principal Engineer and Program Manager, leading 5G research team for the development of next generation 5G massive MIMO base station. He received 2019 Future Star Award and Individual Performance Award 2020 from Huawei Sweden. Currently he is the CEO of FILPAL SDN BHD, driving RF Design & Manufacturing businesses and the development of RF supply chain ecosystem. Dr. Wong is also an Associate Fellow of the AAET.

    He has served as an invited speaker locally and internationally including at APMC 2017 and a keynote speaker at ICCSP 2017. He is currently an Advisor of the IEEE Penang Joint Chapter. He has served as the Technical Chair for IMESS 2017 and 2018. He was the Former Chair of the IEEE ED/MTT/SSC Penang Chapter, from 2016 to 2017. He was the Founding Chair of the IEEE International Microwave, Electron Devices, and Solid-State Symposium (IMESS), in 2016.
