    CEO of Center for Market Education Sdn Bhd

    Dr Carmelo Ferlito (Verona, Italy, 1978) is the CEO of the Center for Market Education (CME) and a Senior Fellow at the Institute for Democracy and Economic Affairs (IDEAS) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Dr Ferlito is also Research Advisor for Provalindo Nusa Property in Jakarta, Indonesia, a Visiting Professor at Taylor’s University in Subang Jaya, Malaysia, and Senior Fellow (Southeast Asia) at the Property Rights Alliance in Washington, DC, USA.

    Carmelo Ferlito earned a Master in Economics (2003) and a Ph.D. in Economic History (2007) from the University of Verona in Italy. From 2004 to 2009 he worked as researcher and teaching assistant
    with several Italian universities, including University of Verona, Salento University and University of Macerata. In 2017 he was Visiting Scholar at the University of Bergamo. Between 2013 and 2019 he has taught “Microeconomic Theory and Policy” and “History of Economic Thought” at INTI International College Subang (Subang Jaya) and at Universiti Kuala Lumpur-MFI (Bangi). As recognized international speaker, he has delivered guest lectures in prestigious institutions in Malaysia, Italy, Pakistan, Singapore and Indonesia.

    Dr Ferlito is author of seven books and more than forty scientific papers. His latest books are “Assessing and Addressing Urban Poverty in Malaysia” (2022) and “My Malaysia” (2021).

    His theoretical research is focused on business cycles, capital theory, monetary theory, and entrepreneurship. He has applied his theoretical analysis to policy studies, in particular to the Malaysian property market and housing policies and to the issues of financial literacy, cost of living and agricultural policies.

    His opinions are regularly requested by several Malaysian and international media, and they appeared, among others, on the following outlets: The Financial Times, Channel News Asia, The
    Edge, The Star, The Malaysian Reserve, Free Malaysia Today, BFM 89.9, The Jakarta Post, TV3, Astro Awani, Gatra, The Business Recorder, Voice of America, The Jakarta Post, The New Straits Times, Asia Times, Straits Times, Bisnis.

    Partner, International Tax & Transaction Services at Ernst & Young

    Andrew is a partner with EY’s International Tax and Transaction Services team in Malaysia and recently spent over 2 years in New York as a member of EY’s Global Tax Desk Network. Prior to joining EY in 2013, Andrew was based in the UK where he accumulated over 6 years’ experience in tax compliance and advisory engagements involving UK corporate tax, capital gains tax and personal income tax, for large UK corporations as well as small and medium sized firms.

    Andrew has more than 16 years of experience handling tax advisory and tax compliance projects in the US, UK and Malaysia for multinational enterprises. He is seasoned in engagements involving Malaysian and Labuan tax planning for inbound and outbound investments, structuring of new operations, cross-border transactions, group restructuring and reorganizations.

    Andrew is currently focused on helping Malaysian-headquartered and inbound clients to understand the impact of BEPS 2.0 global minimum tax rules and has been involved in discussions with Malaysian Government authorities on this topic. He is a regular speaker at seminars on a wide range of topics, including BEPS 2.0.
