The Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) has released the latest updates for the Manufacturing Sector.

Updates cover both essential services and non-essential within areas undergoing phases 2, 3, and 4 of the National Recovery Plan (NRP) .

Malaysians eager to travel abroad are now spoilt for choice, with up to 40 countries opening their doors to tourists. However, while Canada, Nepal, Dubai and island destinations such as Seychelles and Maldives have welcomed foreign travellers, most have imposed conditions, the main one being that they have to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

Sabah has decided to allow inter-district travel to commence from Oct 14 with the overall vaccination rate reaching 70% to date. Along with the latest decision, the ongoing zoning system would be removed. The permission is only applicable for fully vaccinated adults, teens aged between 12 and 18, who have received at least one dose of the vaccine and children under 12, who are accompanied by fully vaccinated parents.

A total of 21,220,121 individuals or 90.6 per cent of the adult population in the country have completed their COVID-19 vaccination as of yesterday, 12 October. 94.9 per cent of the adult population, or 22,215,504 individuals have received at least one dose of the vaccine.

The government is currently refining the draft amendments to three Acts as it moves towards ratifying the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP). The Attorney-General’s Chambers is refining the draft amendments to the Patents Act 1983, Copyright Act 1987 and Trademarks Act 2019.

The Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA), through its one-year-old One Stop Centre (OSC) for Business Travellers, has facilitated 1,120 companies and 2,822 short-term business travellers (STBTs) with a total investment value of RM121.37 billion.
