AMCHAM wishes all its Muslim members a happy and safe fasting month. These are trying times with an unwanted epidemic ruining much of the festive feel, but better to be safe than sorry. Hopefully a better and brighter future is looming around the horizon.

On 23 April, 2020, AMCHAM held its first Members’ Briefing in a virtual manner. Attendance was high, exceeding 60, and lively. The briefing began with AMCHAM CEO Siobhan Das updating members on what’s been going on at AMCHAM lately. Since the Movement Control Order (MCO) was implemented, shifting to virtual platforms became a requirement. The times must be met with new skills and methods.

WHEN the government imposed the Movement Control Order (MCO) on March 18, its objective was clear — to contain the spread of Covid-19. The decision was made on the basis that human lives are more important than the short-term economic impact. Today, most non-essential manufacturing activities and business operations in the country remain shut and we do not need experts to tell us how damaging this will be to businesses and the economy.

Over 70 doctors and healthcare professionals across over 40 specialties are live on a teleconsultation platform for the benefit of Sunway Medical Centre patients. Local and overseas patients can consult their doctors, clinical psychologists, speech therapists, audiologists, rehabilitation team (podiatrist, physiotherapists and occupational therapists) and dietitians without the need to be physically present, with an appointment made at least one working day before.
