Government mulling mandatory use of face masks in public |
|

|
The government is considering to make the wearing of face masks in public places mandatory, said Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin. Urging the public to remain vigilant, the prime minister said the government would announce the decision once the relevant rules had been finalised. He also said heftier penalties would be imposed on those found violating rules under the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act, which also covered the 14-day mandatory quarantine for those returning from abroad. |

Latest Update: Permission for Expatriates AND Permission to Exit and Return to Malaysia |

As of 18 July 2020, Expatriates holding EP I and RP-T passes (and their dependants) who exited Malaysia before 11 July 2020 and will be returning to Malaysia are now exempted to obtain entry permission from the Director-General of Immigration (DGIM). However, those who have exited or wish to exit after 11 July 2020 must still obtain an exit and return permission from the DGIM.
