The Expatriate Services Division has updated its website following the announcement made by the Malaysian Government for changes and updates on the guidelines for expats and its related passes, effective from 24 July 2020, in relation to:

A. Entry permission for expatriates with an active pass and approved pass application who are abroad;

B. Exit Malaysia and return permission with an active pass who are in Malaysia.

The public can travel to their hometowns to celebrate Hari Raya Aidiladha as there will be no roadblocks including for interstate travel, said Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob. However, he reminded people to always observe the standard operating procedure (SOP) to curb the spread of COVID-19.

The government will implement the Movement Control Order (MCO) again if the number of COVID-19 cases climbs to three digits, says Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob. “If it reaches three digits, we have no choice but to reintroduce the MCO. “I understand that if the MCO is enforced again, it will make things difficult for all parties, including those of us who want to work and so on. But this measure must be taken,”

The cross border travel between Malaysia and Singapore is expected to start on 17 August 2020. This was after both countries agreed and finalised the standard operating procedures (SOP) for the implementation of the Reciprocal Green Lane (RGL) and Periodic Commuting Arrangement (PCA) travel schemes. Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein said Malaysians who are eligible for the two schemes can submit their applications to the Immigration Department beginning Aug 10.
