Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) today published a press release on the Economic and Financial Developments in Malaysia In the Third Quarter of 2020. Malaysia’s economy has shown a recovery from the second quarter of 2020. The Malaysian economy improved to record a smaller contraction of 2.7% in the third quarter of 2020. Improvements in growth were seen across most economic sectors, particularly in the manufacturing sector, which turned positive following strong E&E production activity.

In reference to the Government's announcement made on 10 November 2020 and also the earlier announcement dated 2 October 2020 on the requirements to advertise vacancies on the MYFutureJobs portal as a prerequisite for hiring foreign workers and expatriates, please be informed that there will be a grace period for the implementation of this policy where it will take effect on 1 January 2021.

Due to the recent announcement of the extension of the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) throughout most of the country until 6 December, AMCHAM has decided to postpone our much-loved Thanksgiving Luncheon to accommodate the rules around larger groups.

The Thanksgiving Luncheon will now take place at Hilton Kuala Lumpur on 14 December, 12:00pm – 2:00pm

We are hoping that come December we will all be able to safely celebrate together.
