2021 Budget passed
The Dewan Rakyat today passed the country's biggest Budget at the policy stage, after 12 days of heated debates. Speaker Datuk Azhar Azizan Harun, who presided over the session, put the Budget to a vote which was passed through a majority voice at about 3.30pm, after Finance Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz completed his winding-up speech, today, 26 November 2020.

Mandatory COVID-19 screening for all 1.7 million foreign workers in Malaysia
All 1.7 million foreign workers in Malaysia are now required to undergo mandatory COVID-19 screening due to the high number of cases among them. Effective Thursday (Nov 26), authorities will also start imposing a fine of RM50,000 per worker if the employers house foreign workers in crowded spaces.

Due to the recent announcement of the extension of the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) throughout most of the country until 6 December, AMCHAM has decided to postpone our much-loved Thanksgiving Luncheon to accommodate the rules around larger groups.

The Thanksgiving Luncheon will now take place at Hilton Kuala Lumpur on 14 December (Monday), 12.00pm -2.00pm.

We are hoping that come December we will all be able to safely celebrate together.

Cargill to invest RM81m to upgrade palm oil production facility in Port Klang
Vegetable oil refining and production outfit Cargill Palm Products Sdn Bhd will invest US$20 million (RM81 million) to expand and modernize its palm oil production facility in Port Klang which is expected to be completed and running by February 2022. In a statement today, 26 November, Cargill said the improvements at the facility will include deploying new production technologies, upgrading equipment and adding new R&D capabilities.
