The COVID-19 screening program for foreign workers is implemented to assist the government’s efforts in curbing the spread of the COVID-19 virus in the country especially among foreign workers. A set of FAQs have been released to provide clarity.

The Legal Affairs Division of the Prime Minister’s Department (BHEUU, JPM) intends to obtain views and suggestions from various parties including the public regarding the effectiveness of Act 829. In line with that, we would like to extend the invitation to contribute in the public survey on the Implementation of the Temporary Measures for Reducing the Impact of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) 2020 [Act 829].

Sime Darby Property Bhd’s foreign shareholding had risen to a five-month high of 9.757% as of Dec 31, 2020, according to the latest figures on its website. The foreign shareholding percentage was the highest since 9.768% at the end of July 2020, said Sime Darby Property. Over the past four years, the group reported its largest foreign shareholding percentage of 15.048% as at the end of January 2018.

In accordance with Article 21 of the AmChams of Asia Pacific (AAP) constitution, Chair Steven Chan appointed the following chambers to serve on the Nominating Committee for the 2021 AAP Chair election: AmCham India, AmCham Indonesia, AmCham Japan, AmCham Korea, AmCham Malaysia, AmCham Okinawa, and AmCham South China. The committee appointed Joseph Dowd from AmCham Okinawa to serve as Chair of the Nominating Committee.

Confirmed cases of COVID-19 have now passed 103.8 million globally, according to the Johns Hopkins Coronavirus Resource Center. The number of confirmed deaths stands at more than 2.25 million. Japan's services sector shrank at the fastest pace in five months in January. It was hit by a resurgence in COVID-19 cases and a state of emergency in parts of the country.
