The Immunisation program for the private sector or PIKAS has been agreed upon between the Ministry of Science and Technology and Ministry of Health to be started in Phase 4 of the country’s vaccination schedule.

For the manufacturing sector the first to kick start, will be coordinated by MITI which will then engage with both public and private entities to vaccinate employee’s in the sector.

The fourth phase of the national COVID-19 immunisation programme beginning on Wednesday (June 16) will target industry workers. This is meant to reduce the number of infections in workplaces as workplace outbreaks continue to dominate the number of new clusters every day. The pandemic control phase will involve critical economic sectors, which he added are the backbone of economic development.

Hospital Ampang has close to 150 COVID patients now in, and for the past few weeks the hospital has been expanding the wards in terms of manpower, equipment, and proper isolation spaces.

Both patients and clinicians need equipments urgently to be able to do their work.
