Vaccination of economic frontliners will be the country’s best proactive move to drive the economic recovery and ensure Malaysia retains its critical position in many global value chains. With today’s launch of the Public-Private Partnership Industrial COVID-19 Immunisation Programme (PIKAS) program, the ministries of MITI, MoH and MOSTI are working together with industry to deploy vaccines to the more active parts of the economy.

Companies will not be allowed to transfer the cost of COVID-19 vaccinations to workers under the nationwide Program Immunisasi Industry COVID-19 Kerjasama Awam-Swasta (PIKAS).

Companies seeking to participate in the programme will have to agree not to dock workers' salaries or make deductions to offset the cost of vaccines and related costs.

It is widely accepted by now that the “normal” supply chains of material use — producing materials, using them, and then discarding them into landfills, other countries, or rivers and seas — are wasteful and damaging to the environment.

It’s easy to see why consumers and policymakers have become interested in the concept of the “circular” supply chain, in which at least a large fraction of materials is recycled and reused in the product.
