| Yang di-Pertuan Agong has appointed Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin as the caretaker prime minister today, following the latter’s resignation as the premier together with the Perikatan Nasional (PN) Cabinet.
The King received the resignation letter of Muhyiddin and the entire Cabinet members during a meeting at 12.30pm this afternoon, according to a statement from Istana Negara. |

They are carwashes, electrical and electronic shops; house and kitchen appliances; furniture, sports equipment outlets, car accessory outlets, car sales and distribution centres; morning markets and farmers' markets; fashion and accessories shops; jewellery shops; and hair salons and beauty centres (for cutting hair services only). |

| Companies in the manufacturing sector previously listed under the non-essential services list will now be allowed to resume operations. Ministry International Trade and Industry (MITI) in a statement said this applies to states under Phases 1 and 2 of the National Recovery Plan (NRP) and the operation capacity is based on the company's rate of fully vaccinated workers. |

| Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has given his assurance that the on-going national vaccination programme (NIP) will not be affected by the latest development in the country's political landscape.
In his speech during a special address to the nation today, the caretaker Prime Minister said Malaysia was among the country in the world which recorded the highest vaccination rate daily. |

| Over the weekend, Intel employees successfully completed both doses of the COVID-19 vaccination as part of the Public-Private Partnership Industry Immunization (PIKAS) Program.

| Some 32.9 per cent of the country’s population, or 10,734,415 people, have completed two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine injections as of yesterday, 15 August. 17,076,440 people or 52.3 per cent had received the first dose. This brought the cumulative number of vaccine dispensed under the National COVID-19 Immunisation Programme (NIP) as of yesterday to 27,810,855 doses. |

| Port of Tanjung Pelepas (PTP) and Johor Port Authority (LPJ) have set up Industry Vaccination Centre (PPVIN) for maritime and logistics sector workers, in support of the national COVID-19 immunisation programme (PICK). The programme is a joint initiative by the Ministry of Transport (MOT) together with the Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation (MOSTI) and Ministry of Health (KKM) with LPJ and PTP to act as the co-host of the PPVIN. |
