H.E. Joseph Y Yun
Ambassador at U.S Embassy in MalaysiaAmbassador Joseph Y. Yun was nominated by President Obama on July 23, 2013, and confirmed by the full Senate on August 1, 2013, to be the United States Ambassador to Malaysia.
Ambassador Yun most recently served as the Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary in the Bureau of East Asian and Pacific Affairs as well as the Deputy Assistant Secretary in the Bureau of East Asian and Pacific Affairs. Mr. Yun’s overseas postings include the Republic of Korea, Thailand, France, Indonesia and Hong Kong.
Ambassador Yun joined the Foreign Service in 1985. He is a career member of the Senior Foreign Service, class of Minister-Counselor. Before joining the Foreign Service, Ambassador Yun was a senior economist for Data Resources, Inc., in Lexington, Massachusetts. Ambassador Yun holds degrees from both the London School of Economics and the University of Wales. He is married to Dr. Melanie Billings-Yun. They have one son.
Matt Keene
Consular General at U.S. Embassy in MalaysiaMatt Keene joined the Foreign Service in 1999. His prior overseas tours include Jerusalem, Dubai, Sofia, and Cairo. He has also served in Washington as Deputy Director of the Office of Maghreb Affairs in the Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs (NEA/MAG), as Senior Advisor in HR/CDA, and as Senior Assignments Officer for HR/CDA/AD overseeing staffing in the Middle East/North Africa and South Central Asia. He speaks Hebrew, Bulgarian, and Arabic. Originally from Philadelphia, PA, Matt graduated summa cum laude from Temple University in 1995 with a double-major in History & Political Science. He subsequently obtained an M.A. in Education from LaSalle University in 1999.
Nat Turner
Economic Counselor at U.S. Embassy in Malaysia
Nat Turner is a Foreign Service Officer at the U.S. Department of State. In 2016, Nat arrived to Kuala Lumpur as Economic Counselor where his team will manage Trans-Pacific Partnership implementation and other trade initiatives, energy cooperation, environmental cooperation, and economic activities related to ASEAN and APEC. Prior to arriving in Kuala Lumpur, he served in Brasilia as Deputy Economic Counselor including a year as Acting Economic Counselor. Other overseas assignments have included Hong Kong and Cairo. Washington based assignments include the Department of State's Economics Bureau in the Bilateral Trade Office where he had responsibility for the South and Central Asia trade portfolio, the East Asian and Pacific Affairs Bureau as Desk Officer for Singapore and Brunei, and an assignment to USAID's Latin America and Caribbean Bureau in the Broad Based Economic Growth Office where he worked on food security and financial sector reform.
Prior to joining the Foreign Service, Nat worked for a decade in marketing and management positions in the consumer products, technology, and banking industries. Nat earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Duke University and completed a Finance and Marketing Executive Education course at the Wharton School of Business.
