The Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) would like to inform that companies under the essential sectors allowed to operate by the National Security Council (MKN) in Phase 1 and Phase 2 locations of the National Recovery Plan (PPN) can use the latest COVID-19 Intelligent Management System (CIMS) 3.0 letter as notification of approval to operate.

Those from the logistics and transportation sector can continue to use the travel approval letters issued under the SMILE system (Sistem Maklumat Industri Logistik) dated from June 1, 2021 onwards for inspections at roadblocks. This was following the implementation of the enhanced movement control order (EMCO) in several sub-districts and localities in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur from July 3-16 as well as the announcement of the National Recovery Plan (NRP).

Certain commercial and distribution sectors, including car washes and hairdressers, in Pahang, Perak, Terengganu, Kelantan and Perlis, have been allowed to resume operations as the five states transition to Phase Two of the movement control under the National Recovery Plan. Most businessmen and workers in those sectors expressed relief and were glad because they could begin earning again and boost their families’ incomes.

Malaysia has successfully achieved a vaccination rate of more than 300,000 doses a day. On Monday (July 5), a total of 313,761 doses were administered with 6,585,002 individuals having received their first dose, while another 2,735,474 individuals had completed their second dose. When announcing the National Recovery Plan on June 15, an increase in the vaccination rate to more than 300,000 doses a day had been set beginning July.

The Selangor State Government has announced the implementation of Program Vaksin Selangor (SelVAX) which is two-prong programme namely, SelVAX Community and SelVAX Industry. On 15 June 2021, CITF Selangor has agreed that SelVAX be accepted as one of the supporting programs to the National COVID-19 Immunization Program (PICK).

Shell Malaysia is aiming to move into the renewable energy industry in the future, said its chairman Ivan Tan. According to Tan, renewable sources of energy will dominate a deeply electrified energy system in the future. Therefore, he said, strong collaboration across the government, businesses and society will be crucial to make progress at the pace required for Malaysia’s energy system to be carbon-neutral by 2065.

Introduced in February 2021, the training programmes leverages the expertise of both Microsoft and Grab to deliver tailored learning experiences for driver and delivery partners – regardless of their digital literacy levels.

Day 2 of AMCHAM’s Sustainability Week went on very well, this time on The Future of Energy: Powering Our World. Today’s discussion mainly surrounded the energy industry as 2 panels revealed their initiatives in finding a solution and discussed the challenges involved in actualizing the sustainable business practices.

Hospital Ampang has close to 150 COVID patients now in, and for the past few weeks the hospital has been expanding the wards in terms of manpower, equipment, and proper isolation spaces.

Both patients and clinicians need equipments urgently to be able to do their work.
